As we continued into the forest, the kittens followed at our horses' heels. We figured that someone had had a few litters of kittens and didn't want to keep them so they abandoned them in the forest. We decided, both being feline lovers, that we should take them to the local organisation for dogs and cats called Miawouf. So we left the forest again and trotted off to the stable, trying to keep the kittens from following us out to the street. We got to the stable were we took my car to the forest entrance and picked up the kittens. We then went back to the stable but couldn't figure out where to put all these little bundles so we took them back to the forest, set them loose again, went to my friend's cousin's house, got cages and cardboard boxes and went back to get them.
My parents not knowing about this and being away from home, we took them to my house were we put them in my bathroom. There, I put a fresh litter box full of sand, a blanket for them to lye on, and I set out an aluminium tin full of cat food and a container of water. The kittens rushed to the food and water climbing over one another to try to get at it. I set out another tin of food and container of water, and watched with contentment as the kittens each had their fill and began to explore their environment.
As the kittens moved around, it became difficult to move ourselves, being extra careful not to step on one. It didn't take them long to settle down on the blanket and curl up to sleep. We finally had a chance to count them. 1, 2, 3, 4, ... , 10, 11, 12, ... , 15, 16, 17 little kittens! The next day, we brought them to the organisation and got lectured on the importance of neutering our cats!
